Gamma: presentations in minutes, not hours.

Gamma turns a few keywords, a text or an existing PowerPoint into a fully designed presentation. Here you will learn what the tool can do, what it is good for, what the plans cost and what to watch out for when it comes to data privacy.

The basics

What is Gamma?

Gamma is an AI tool for presentations, documents, social media graphics and simple websites: you describe what you need – Gamma creates the outline, text, layout and images.

Gamma is made by the US company Gamma Tech, Inc. in San Francisco. According to the company, more than 100 million people have already used the tool. You work in the browser at gamma.app (affiliate link*).

Since the current version, “Gamma 5”, an AI assistant works alongside you: it clarifies your idea in a dialogue, creates an outline first and then refines the presentation in a chat next to the slides. If you prefer to design yourself, you can switch to a free-form canvas. Existing PowerPoint files and PDFs can be imported and edited further.

Important before you start: billing works with credits. Every AI action uses some – above all creating new slides and generating images. If you factor that in from the start, an empty balance won't take you by surprise.

Typical use cases

What is Gamma best suited for?

Presentations & pitch decks

From a list of keywords to a fully designed presentation – for client meetings, workshops or internal meetings.

Proposals & one-pagers

Gamma also creates documents: short service overviews, one-pagers or more detailed material.

Refreshing old slides

Import existing PowerPoint files or PDFs and keep working on them with a new design.

Social media graphics

Carousels and graphics in the common platform formats, matching the chosen design.

Training & knowledge material

Onboarding, how-tos or process descriptions, prepared clearly – without a design department.

Simple landing pages

With “Gamma Sites”, content becomes a web page – on your own domain from the Pro plan up.

To be honest: Gamma delivers a very good first draft, not a finished presentation. You need to check content, figures and images, and if you have to follow a corporate design exactly, expect some rework. For your own graphics, Canva is often more flexible, and for the text behind them ChatGPT.

The most important question

What can you do for free – and what does paying get you?

01 — The free version

Good for trying it out

You get a one-off 400 credits when you sign up. That is enough for a few first presentations – on the free plan, the balance is not topped up.

  • Presentations, documents, websites and social media graphics
  • Up to 10 slides per generation
  • Import of PowerPoint and PDF
  • Export as PDF, PowerPoint and PNG – with a Gamma badge on PDF and PowerPoint
02 — What the paid version gets you

Monthly credits and more control

Viewed from Germany, Plus costs around €10 per month, Pro around €24 and Ultra around €86 – less with annual billing (around €8, €18 and €77 per month):

  • Plus: 1,000 credits per month, up to 100 slides, no Gamma branding
  • Pro: 4,000 credits, custom branding, premium image models, detailed analytics
  • Pro: custom domains for Gamma Sites and access to the API
  • Unused credits roll over – up to twice the monthly amount
  • For teams: the Business plan with single sign-on, around €35 per person per month

Our recommendation: test Gamma with the free credits on a real presentation. If you build slides regularly, Plus is enough; Pro is worth it if you need custom branding, analytics or Gamma Sites on your own domain. Prices and credits change frequently and depend on your location – the current details at Gamma are binding (this page: as of October 2026).

Data privacy

What businesses should know about data privacy.

Gamma is a US service. For most presentations that is not a problem – for customer data, cost calculations or internal strategy papers, you should know the following points.

Processing in the US

Gamma runs on Amazon Web Services servers in the US. We did not find an option to keep data in the EU.

Data processing agreement

Gamma provides a data processing agreement with EU standard contractual clauses. The AI features run via providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic and Google.

Switching off AI training

On Free, Plus, Pro and Ultra, your content may be used for training by default. You can switch this off under Settings → Data Controls. On Teams, Business and Enterprise it is off automatically.

Please note: this is not legal advice. Whether using Gamma is permitted in your business is something to clarify with your data protection officer. Our rule of thumb: no personal customer data and no confidential figures in Gamma until that has been clarified.

Gamma Sites

Can Gamma replace my website?

For a quick landing page for an event or an offer, Gamma Sites can be enough. As a permanent company website, it reaches clear limits.

01 — What works

Online quickly

  • Custom domain from the Pro plan
  • Page title and description for Google can be set
  • Navigation, favicon and Google Tag Manager
  • Forms via embedded services such as Tally or Typeform
02 — Good to know

Limits for company websites

  • New sites are not indexed by Google by default – unlocking requires Pro or higher
  • Hosting on Amazon Web Services in the US
  • No built-in contact form, enquiries end up with the form provider
  • Legal pages such as a privacy policy have to be created as subpages yourself

Getting started

Four steps to your first presentation.

  1. Create an account

Create a free account at gamma.app – the 400 starter credits are enough for your first attempts.

  2. Choose your starting material

Describe topic and goal in a few sentences – or paste a text or import a PowerPoint or PDF.

  3. Check the outline

Before any slides are created, Gamma suggests an outline. Care pays off here: adjusting the order and key messages now saves credits later.

  4. Refine & share

Pick a design, adjust text and images in the chat or directly on the slides – then share as a link or export as PDF or PowerPoint.

Tip on exporting: exports match the presentation view, not the editing view. Fonts and spacing do not always transfer exactly to PowerPoint – take a quick look before important meetings. Google Slides works via the detour of a PowerPoint file.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about Gamma.

What exactly is Gamma?

Gamma is an AI tool that creates designed presentations, documents, social media graphics and simple websites from keywords, texts or existing files. An AI assistant first creates an outline and then refines the result in a chat; alternatively, you design it yourself on a free-form canvas.

Is Gamma free?

For trying it out, yes: you get a one-off 400 credits when you sign up, presentations are limited to 10 slides per generation and PDF and PowerPoint exports carry a Gamma badge. For regular work you need a paid plan, because the free credits are not topped up.

How much does Gamma cost?

Viewed from Germany, Plus costs around €10 per month, Pro around €24 and Ultra around €86 – less with annual billing. For teams there is the Business plan at around €35 per person per month. Prices depend on your location; the current details at Gamma are binding.

Can I export Gamma presentations to PowerPoint?

Yes. Gamma exports to PowerPoint, PDF and PNG; for Google Slides, you upload the PowerPoint file. The export matches the presentation view, and fonts and spacing may differ – plan for some rework.

Can I use Gamma in a privacy-compliant way?

Gamma processes data in the US and provides a data processing agreement with EU standard contractual clauses. On the Free to Ultra plans, content may be used for AI training by default; you can switch this off under Settings → Data Controls. Whether using it is permitted in your business is something to clarify with your data protection officer.
